Help Refurbish The Playhut - Kentish Town’s Beloved Youth Space
Every pound you give between 2–9 December will be doubled through The Big Give Christmas Challenge.
Why This Space Matters
For over fifty years, The Playhut, also known as The Hut, has been Kentish Town’s only free, open-to-all youth space. Located on Islip Street in the Peckwater Estate, it welcomes children and young people aged 6–25 for daily drop-ins, youth clubs, mentoring, sports, and creative activities, with year-round access through the Play Hut and weekday after-school and holiday programmes. Many of the staff first came here as children themselves and now guide the next generation.
More than just a building, it is a community hub bringing together young people from over 20 nationalities and backgrounds, providing a safe place to belong, play, and grow. Other nearby services are referral-only, age-restricted, or paid, so without The Playhut, thousands of local children would have nowhere to go.
During this fundraising period, Camden Giving aims to raise £8,000 to refurbish The Playhut. This is the first step in a broader £1 million campaign to secure its future for decades to come.
