NW5 x Camden Giving Community Space Project

Upgrading a much-loved community building in NW5

The Vision

Camden Giving is teaming up with NW5 Project to improve their long-standing community building. Our goal is to raise £1 million to upgrade the space so it is more accessible, comfortable, and better suited to how local people use it today and in the future.

Why This Project Matters

This building has been at the heart of the community for over 50 years, hosting youth sessions, workshops, wellbeing activities, arts, and more. It’s the only free play provision in Camden offering after-school clubs and holiday activities, and the only youth space nearby in Kentish Town.

To mark Camden Giving’s 10-year anniversary in 2027, our alumni nominated and voted for a one-off capital project. NW5 was chosen from five shortlisted projects, reflecting the ongoing need our community has highlighted for accessible, welcoming spaces.

How the Funding Would Be Used

If we reach our goal, the money will help to:

  • Flexible, multi-use rooms for workshops, youth sessions, arts, wellbeing activities, and community groups

  • Better accessibility with ramps, accessible toilets, signage, and improved lighting

  • Upgraded heating, ventilation, lighting, and furnishings for comfort

  • Eco-friendly features to reduce energy use

  • Working with local people to shape the space

Resident Voices

  • “NW5 helped me get on my feet after failing my GCSEs and falling through the cracks at school. I’ve seen them help others from a young age to adults.”

    — Lillie, 17

  • "This space is just one street away from where I live, and I can see how valuable it is. But it urgently needs refurbishment to remain a safe and welcoming space for everyone.”

    — Suzanne, 59

  • “NW5 is a really special place for me. As a special guardian to my grandson, the after-school and summer schemes kept him cared for when I had no other support. That kind of continuity and care is priceless.”

    — Nessa, Special Guardian
