5 Micro-Activism Ideas for 2026

(that also help to achieve Camden Giving's mission of ensuring every citizen has the tools, power and opportunities to overcome inequality)

A warm welcome to 2026 from everyone at Camden Giving. Camden and the World feel increasingly uncertain and every time we see the news or walk around Camden we see someone who needs help. That's what Camden Giving was set up to tackle, but it can be hard to know where to start, so we've created 5 micro-activism ideas for 2026.

  1. Visit and learn from local cultural institutions. In 2025 our Equality Fund panellists identified misunderstanding of others as a driving force of hate crime, so take a little time to visit an art exhibition that helps you to learn more about other people's experience of this borough. You are spoilt for choice; Camden Black History Hub tell stories of Camden Black community (and you'll get a very warm welcome from Emily and her volunteers), The People's Museum Somers Town is a treasure trove of the history of Somers Town's working class history and Old Diorama Arts Centre has a calendar of amazing exhibitions by local artists and from the 19th January they have 2 weeks of events exploring art as activism.

  2. Invite a Camden Citizen to the table. If you work in Camden and have any decisions to make, from who to hire, to what caterer to use, these decisions have an impact on local people, why not involve them in that decision? The good news is we know hundreds of great local people who could get involved, just give us a shout.

  3. Give, and feel good doing it. Did you know that donating money has a positive impact on your happiness levels? A donation of any size can help us fund amazing projects like sports clubs for young people, clubs for isolated older people and shared eating projects for families on low incomes. But beyond that, our participatory model also means that you are giving hundreds of local people the chance to make decisions about how money is spent. Donate here.

  4. Comment on our posts. We have a really ambitious vision that by 2035, every citizen in Camden will have the tools, power and opportunity to address inequality. But we need everyone to be involved in helping us get there. Commenting on our LinkedIn posts helps new people in your network to find out about our work. Go on, tell us you love us, we love to hear it and so will your network.

  5. Apply to us for a good idea. If you are a Camden citizen with a good idea that can overcome inequality, we'd love to hear from you. Our community-decision-makers are looking for ideas that give opportunities to young people, put diverse people in positions of power, help everyone eat well every day and help our estates to be healthy and sustainable. Already this year, we've funded 3 great ideas to get started, a Boxing club for people over 60, a walking group for people with disabilities and a regular shared lunches for people who are refugees in Camden. Find out how to apply here.
